About the show

The Elves and Shoemaker is about dreaming bigger and accepting new ideas. It’s the Borrowers meets Pinocchio – the Elves wear bits and bobs scavenged from the Shoemakers desk, whilst the shoemaker is surrounded by the tools of his craft. The story takes place in an outdated shoe shop, on a traditional high street in the real world. It starts when the Shoemaker realises the business is struggling and ends when it has been passed on to the elves who find a way to run the shop successfully. The Elves must survive and want to thrive, but the world is bigger and scarier than they are. The Shoemaker wants someone to fill his shoes, but he thinks he is alone. The show will be underscored by original music. All characters will be played by actors, deploying puppetry when the big and small worlds collide. The Elves treat the shop as their playground – they are energetic, physical creatures who sing, sneak and steal. This is not Santa’s Grotto.
